On my travels around the world, I once jumped out of a plane (with a parachute) near Fraser Island in Australia.

There were a few of us out on the tear and we had consumed a few beers and one or two Tequilas when some bright spark suggested that we all go for a Skydive the next day.

Of course with all that “Dutch Courage” building up inside, we all agreed and then forgot all about it….. that is until the next morning when an even brighter spark actually remembered the conversation.

Not only did he remember it – but he told all of us as well……. so now we had to “put up or shut up”!

Well, I am game for anything once and I decided to play along. Not really knowing if I would actually see it through….

We arrived at the airport (more like a corn field without the corn) and were introduced to the Instructors. They looked as rough as we felt! I was assigned to one hairy American bloke who was probably into all sorts of flying – if you know what I mean!!!!>? I was just hoping he wasnt too doped out!

Then onto the practice – all of 5 minutes – where we had to pretend to jump from the plane and just spread out our arms. Sounds easy – it was – but I felt like a spare Prat! Little did I know how much more of a Prat I could become!

So off we took in this tiny plane. Of course, it was a tandem jump (5 minutes doesnt get you ajump on your own – unless we are talking about Bangkok!). There was barely enough room to turn around in the plane and with my “slim” physique it created an extra challenge. It meant that Evan had to jump first – off he went. Not a bother on him.

Now my turn – but I forgot everything I was thought! I clung onto the side of the plane and refused to jump. The guy behind was getting bored – and I think he was waking up. I was peeling my hands off the side of the plane and then pushed me out.Heellllllllll………. Noooooooo!

Of course I forgot to spread my arms so we were tumbling all over the place. He was banging on my head trying to get me to focus on what he was saying. “Open your arms- NOW”. Oh yeah, I remembered and from there it was a simple fall. It was a great rush and the views were amazing.

However, I landed about 3 minutes ahead of Evan!Yes, he had jumped first. Why? Cause he fell like a feather and I fell like a rock!
