I have been in Bangkok for the last week trying to get things organised for my big move.
The song is about “one night in Bangkok” but I have been here for a week.I realised that I really do love Bangkok. It is such a great city and there is always something going on.
First thing I wanted to do was go for a complete health check after almost 6 years in Thailand. I did the same when I arrived here and I was interested to see the difference over the years.
The results were mixed. First of all I arrived in Thailand weighing 78 kgs but I am leaving as 94kgs! That’s a lot of fried rice, sweet basil and red curries! But actually I think most of that is down to drinking beer.
One of my main objectives when I get home is to lose weight. I really have to make the effort and I think I will even go off the demon drink for a couple of months. Might just be idle talk but I really want to give it a proper go!
My cholestoral has also shot up – too many fried eggs and that is something I have to keep an eye on. However, everything else I passed with flying colours. In fact the Doctors themselves were quite impressed with the overall results!
I also made a visit to the dentist and things have improved there too. Just some cleaning and a repair to a filling. All in all I am in pretty good shape!
The rest of the week I spent going around shops, markets and stalls buying things that are cheap here and that I will need back home.
The biggest thing that I still need to arrange is to ship a container home with all my belongings and my car! It seems expensive but I am just looking for someone to give me a proper quote!
Also, my apartment in Bangkok is up for rent on April 1st so if you know anyone looking make sure to pass them on my details.
At the moment my flight home is booked for March 3rd. I will have to fly from Bangkok – Au Dhabi – London – Dublin. For whatever reason most of the flights are booked out or are crazy expensive.
This weekend I will be watching Man Utd win again and hopefully on Sunday Ireland can beat England in Croke Park. Here is a good quote about that encounter:
Scotland weren’t much better than a Guinness Premiership or Magners League team, but you can only beat what is put in front of you, and Saturday represents a very good start. Ireland may well be missing Brian O’Driscoll as well as Shane Horgan and don’t have the resources in depth to overcome such losses. However neither will England have the armoured cars and machine guns they had the last time they entered Croke Park!
Also, what the hell is happening to the Irish soccer team? I always thought Stan was a very bad choice and it looks like I am not wrong. Barely winning against San Marino just isnt good enough and if you heard him interviewed you would have liked to strangle him there and then. He is just so annoying and obvisouly out of his depth!
