Global warming is probably the wrong terminology but there is definitely something up with the weather

The weather is pathetic here in Ireland. I just went out for a walk a few minutes ago and it looked like a nice bright day. 5 minutes later it was lashing rain. I took cover under a tree and decided when it died down that I would return home. I am now back at home and the sun is beaming in through the window. I know if i get up to go out again that it will starting pissing rain again.

This is July!

It should be better weather. Its just so unpredictable. During the week there were trees and branches torn down by the strong winds. There were hailstones in London last week.

Add to all that, in April the weather was amazing. The sun shone for almost the entire month.

Live Earth concerts were held this weekend and Al Gore really must be onto something about all this climate change. I did watch his movie and found it very interesting. If half of what he says comes true then we are going to be in extreme difficulties.

The Irish government are off on their summer break. I think they come back in September – in fairness it is a decent break for them. THe poor fellas need the break after all the hassles of the recent election.

The new draft constitution has been published in Thailand. There seems to be some interesting proposals and it looks like it will go to a referendum for acceptance. They still seem to be planning to old elections by the end of the year. That is definitely to be welcomed.

Thaksin has gone ahead with his purchase of Manchester City. It will be interesting to see how that develops cause the Junta are talking about forcing Thaksin back to Thailand to face corruption charges. During the week there were also significant developments in Yasothon. A large number of Thaksin supporters gathered in the city to protest against the Junta. We are talking about 2,000 people which is a significant number of people. I am not sure if there were any clashes but I still think things are nowhere near settled in Thailand

The GAA is on the box at the moment. Not really that good a game – Connaught final.

Watched the Formula 1 earlier – Hamilton didnt win the GP but he still got another podium – looks like he is going to be a real talent but I still think they need to do something to make the races more exciting.

United have been very active in the transfer market. Tevez is a very good buy. I think he single-handedly kept West Ham up last season. Some of his performances were exceptional. It will be interesting to see where he plays him but it looks like Smith and Rossi will definitely go now.

Chelsea still havent made any purchases this season – which is very interesting. I cant wait for the start of the season. What I would love to see is United signing Berbatov!

I got a jack adaptor for my phone and now I can use my expensive headphones with my Nokia phone. It is going to work out fine – i dont need to buy a new MP3 player now. I also bough a 2 GB card over the internet from Komplett.ie – it worked out at 40 euros but i just cant believe the amount of packaging that they used for a tiny Micro SD card -a real waste! It came in a big huge box and heavy packaging – really no need for that! Save the environment!

Friday night ended up as a session. I didnt have any major plans but Colm came back from his holidays so we planned to meet up for 2 pints. 6 hours later we fell out of the pub. Good crack though but I suffered the next day. Dont know how many pints we had but Guinness really has a big impact the next day – especially if you havent been drinking much lately.

Unfortunately I am deeply addicted to Big Brother. It is one of those programmes that I wish I hadnt started to watch. But I have and now i look forward to my daily fix. I am delighted that Laura got kicked out last week. I think Liam or the twins will probably end up winning it. Next week will be interesting to see the reaction to the new fake housemate.

I am 4 months back in Ireland now and I still dont know if I will settle. Starting work has been a great help and I am beginning to enjoy it there. However, I dont know when the novelty factor will wear off. I do know that I was definitely under-selling myself when I came home first. When I look at the capabilities and experience of others around me then I really think I should have been aiming much higher.

However, I am happy to let things progress as they are and then to look again at things in another 5 or 6 months.

Evan spent a few days with Nang over in Bangkok last week and I am looking forward to hearing about all his updates. It isnt easy for Nang to be still back there on her own but you have to be impressed by her committment to finishing school! Not many others would make the sacrifices that she is making! Hats off!
