I am on my last few days left in the Kingdom of Thailand

After almost 6 years living in Thailand it is really hard to believe that I am actually leaving. It is sad. But it has to happen.

I dont feel any bitterness to the Thai authorities for not allowing me to stay – in fact I am taking it as some kind of devine intervention telling me that I need to go back to Ireland and get my career back on track.

Early retirement sounds like a great idea but thats all it is – a great idea! In reality it is boring. Golf can occupy your time but it is not enough to keep the brain stimulated! And then there are the bar flies! Yes, the guys who sit at the bar counter all day long moaning and complaining about life. I certainly did NOT want to end up like that.

I would have loved to stay in Thailand but only on the basis that I could have a very good job with a very good income. I dont mind the stress and hard work but there just wasnt anything happening here for me! For now, that is!

But I have really enjoyed my last few months in Thailand – ever since I knew that I would be leaving. I travelled around the country a lot – Chiang Mai, Lampang, Lamphun, Hua Hin, Cha-am, Yasothon, Korat and Bangkok. Thailand is a great country but it is going through some tough times at the moment.

I, for one, will be riding the Celtic Tiger as the THais try to sort out their problems. It is more than possible that I will be back here in a working capacity sometime in the future. But I will DEFINITELY be back for holidays!

I have just about managed to finish packing my container. Just finalising the details with the Freigh Forwarder now and if all goes well it should arrive in Dublin in 5 weeks time. Fingers crossed. I didnt manage to get my heater installed in my car but thats no problem – i think i can do that back in IReland. No-one knows what a heater is here!!!!!

I arrive back in Ireland at 9.10pm on Monday 5th March.

Be seeing you then!
