Virtual Ger has now entered the building

Is this a real life, is this just fantasy,
Caught in a landslide,
No escape from reality.

Except on www.geroreilly.com

Yes, due to increasing interest in the world of geroreilly, he/it/she is now officially a fictional character.

As Harry Potter retires, another wizard is born.

His name s geroreilly.

The stories you are about to read are not real life stories. No animals have been hurt in the development of this website (except for a few dodgy dogs that couldn’t take a hint and challenged the superpowers of geroreilly)

What a week it has been. Action packed from start to finish. It was a really rocky ride at times but it was great fun all the way.

I really am finding that there is a distinct cultural gap between me and the rest of the world!! Well perhaps it is not that extreme but Irish peoples attitudes have definitely changed over the last few years and so has mine.
However, its as if we started out at the same point 6 years ago but that we both went in different directions. I definitely took the Thai slant on things which is to chill out, relax and not to worry too much about things you cant change.

Irish people became obsessed with money, material gains and keeping up (or on top o) the Jones’. The stress levels are extremely high and there doesn’t seem to be any escape or respite from the onslaught. Mobile phones, blackberries, emails, 24/7, Remote Access, Internet, Web etc etc.

It seems the last sanctuary is the toilet – but they even have phones in the toilets of some hotels these days.

The issue I am dealing with at the moment is trying to bridge the gap. I think in the last week I have over compensated and I became too Irish!! I need to reduce the stress levels – and fast!

Everyone seems to be too hassled and stressed out. I think we all need to take some chill pills!

One of the properties that I own in Thailand had its AGM in the last week. The developer is trying to walk away without completing the project. It is still a beautiful development but there are definitely improvements that still need to be made. I have set up a website for other owners to share information and to come together in an organized way to ensure that we get the developer to fulfill their original commitments. I am optimistic that we can achieve this with the new committee.

I have created a new website for the town where the Villa is. www.cha-cha-am.com – there is a fairly active forum on there and a lot of the local expats are on there regularly sharing their thoughts and experiences!! It is a quiet town but they try to liven it up.

Over the next while I will be setting up an online booking for my Villa so I will keep everyone updated on this.

Harrington won the British OPen – what an amazing achievement. I was getting updates while coming back from Galway on the train. We just made it back home in time to see the 4 play-off holes. I thought he did a really brilliant job and I am delighted for him!

United are still trying to sign Tevez – i think it will go through eventually but it may have to go a legal route first.

I have my skype phone connected again – its the wireless version so it means I can walk around the house with it. Still need to get my VOIP box installed too but I need a phoneline for that! Thats another days work.

Went on a weekend to Galway with the family.

I booked first class tickets on Irishrail.ie and I was very impressed with the website and the ease with which it all worked Tickets arrived in the post and all was well. However, when we made it to the train, the only difference between first class and the other classes was that we received a while doylie headrest thingy and the other classes didn’t. The size of the seats was the same, there was no extra service on offer so it was all a complete joke to pay extra for first class.

On the way back the carriage was sweltering – there was no air-con and it was unbearable. The number of lads who STANK of stale beer after a weekend on the tear was awful and it was just an horrendous journey back

This week was a tough one. I think my form was better but i was definitely over worked! I was up early every morning and came home late most evenings! I dont mind that as long as it is not a regular occurence. We will see how things go.

Soon I will be planning my trip to Thailand – i am hoping to get over there sometime in October.

My brave face is back on again too – I found that no-one really cared about my rant last week. In fact most people just saw it as a bit of humour.

You will also notice that this website is now based on a fictional character…… i’m sure you can guess why!
